OOTD: Navy and Nude

Sunday, 22 June 2014

An 'OOTD' rather than an 'OOTN' this weekend! After three weekends of consecutive partying, and a couple of intense weeks at work, I was so ready for some chill out time this weekend.

It was my mother-in-law's 60th birthday and we all decided to throw her a big family surprise party to celebrate. Luckily the weather co-operated again and it was another beautiful sunny day - we've been so lucky with the weekend weather at the moment!

Wanting something casual and warm-weather ready, but still smart, I chose my outfit carefully...

Pink and navy stripe high-waisted silk shorts - Whistles
White cotton vest - Topshop
Navy cropped blazer - H&M
Nude jelly flats - Melissa X Vivienne Westwood Anglomania

These stripy shorts were the perfect item to come to my rescue -  loose and comfortable in the heat, the drapey silk fabric smartens them up. Shorts were definitely in order as I knew I would more than likely be running around with my little niece and nephew.

My nephew can't walk on his own yet, but he loves to be on his feet and toddling around, so you spent a lot of time crouched over so he can hang onto your hands - so a dress would have been a big no no!

As the shorts are quite loud, I paired them with a simple white stretch vest. To smarten it all up and ward off any chills when the clouds came over, I also added this cropped navy blazer with a really nice textured fabric.

Flat shoes were also an essentual for the day, but flat doesn't have to mean boring! I bought these gorgeous jelly flats with my birthday money and I've worn them such a lot since -  the nude colour means that they go with everything and they're ridiculously comfortable -  ultra win!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend and made the most of the sunshine xx

  2. Love those Vivi W shoes. Remember when jellies were so in when we were like, five? It makes me so happy that they are coming back into fashion. Reminds me of the old days. Shorts are definitely the best option to go for when any kids are involved. Hope you had a lovely day at your mother-in-law's 60th. Rosemary x

    1. Haha, yes, I loved my jellies then and I do now! Its alarming how much of the 90s fashion is in the shops again- it makes me feel old! Surely it hasn't all been out of style long enough to come back in!? The kids did wear me out - but it was a lovely day, thank you xx
