If there’s one beauty concept that feels so right for now, its mixed metals.
The contrast of silver, copper and gold makes the most of the hazy autumn light, looks beautiful against post-summer, fading tan skin and looks modern and right for now.
I really wanted to try a new look using some of the mixed metal shades I'd seen on the catwalk.
Right, I couldn’t leave it any longer.
I had to get my post out on the lovely, incredibly generous goody bags Abbigayle over at stealstylist.com out together for those who attended her brilliant #bhmbloggermeet event last weekend.
There was so much in there, it’s taken me a while to get the pictures and the post done, but we were all very grateful, so I wanted to make sure this went up as soon as possible.
I’m in awe of how much hard work she must have put in to get all this together and spoil us silly, especially as I will shortly be doing the same myself for the March event I’m organising in partnership with 48 Hours of Fashion. Abbigayle did such a good job of her event and making us all feel welcome on the day. I hope you’re ready for a bumper goody bag here. Sooo much to unpack…
I placed an order with Kiko months ago, took photos of the items and I’ve even used up a couple of the products, but this post has remained unwritten for some reason.
I’m going to right that wrong and tell you all about the items I picked up and how they performed.
If you haven’t come across Kiko before, its an Italian brand hailing from Milan.
They do have a store down in London at the Westfield centre I think, but for the rest of us, its pretty much internet only to get hold of it.
Ooooookaaay, post number two on the fabulous #bhmbloggermeet event I went to this weekend. It was the most amazing time, and you can read about what we got up to here.
But it wouldn't be a proper blog meet without an outfit and make-up look post , would it? So here goes with all that stuff.
I posted a little about my style inspiration for the meet here, and I did my best to follow the plan and put together a look that's all about my current favourites - tailoring, leather, layers, vampy lips and molten metal lids.
Funnily enough, all the items are pretty much from one place - Topshop!
Got to love good old Toppers, right? I got them all at different times,
but they came together in a new combination here.
Super excited to be bringing to you today my second collaboration post with two of my best blogging friends and all-round lovely ladies, Sonya of OnceUponAGlam and Kerry of KerryJustBeauty.
Last time, we did a post on three ways to wear magenta lips, which you can see here, but this time….we’re all getting naked. Come on, you know you want to see that…right?
Well, before you start panicking and running for the hills, we’re actually talking about the famous and much loved Urban Decay Naked palettes, all three of them! We’ll each be doing a tutorial look featuring one of the palettes.
Hello my lovelies
This weekend was the #bhmbloggermeet over at Brindley Place, Birmingham.
I had such a brilliant time and I have so much to tell you about the day and what we got up to, that I’m actually going to do several posts.
But, srsly dolls, I’ve just swapped my moisturiser for a little beauty that I wanted to tell you about.
I’ve never really found a day cream I loved before, I’ve just been using whatever caught my eye. But that may have changed now I’ve found this.
As usual, it started with a blog. Over at Beauty & Le Chic, she has amazing skin, and when she said this was her choice of cream, I had to try it out for myself. I haven’t been disappointed!
Super
excited to be attending the #bhmbloggermeet taking place on Sunday. As
usual when meeting a bunch of fashionable bloggers, I want to try and
raise my style game, so I’ve been thinking about an outfit and
make-up/hair for the day. I thought I’d put together a little mood
board showing the kind of look I’m going for, and then I’ll do a
second post showing what I wore and how I actually styled it on the day.
I’m
my autumn style post, I laid out the look I’ll be going for over the
season, which was based around shirts, layering, lace and plum colours.
I’ve also decided to go for a bronze smokey eye and berry lips to set
the look off.
Really
looking forward to meeting everyone at the event – it looks like it
will be an amazing day, there’s lots planned and I’ve been looking
forward to it for ages. Hope you like this look…stay tuned to see how it
really turns out!
September’s Glossybox landed and I am soooo excited, its an amazing box this month (and nothing is missing!).
So glad I swapped out my subscription from Birchbox a while back, on the whole I’ve been really pleased.
This month’s box was a collaboration with Karen Millen, and the box itself had this beautiful watercolour of London on the front, how pretty is that?
Hello my lovelies!!
Right, I've never done a blog sale before but I've been on a bit of an autumn decluttering mission and I have found bags of stuff that I don't seem to wear. In the interests of reclaiming a bit of my overstuffed wardrobe, I thought I would do a little sale and lighten the load.
If we ever get to move, I figure the less I have to put in the moving van, the better! I'm in a strange mood where I just want to be lighter and have less possessions - unusal for me. I've been thinking a lot about perfect capsule wardrobes and things - having less, but all great quality stuff, appeals to me.
But that will probably change when the next shiny thing comes along to catch my eye...
Whatever I might feel about her as a person, I've always been pretty interested in Kim Kardashian's beauty regime, and I may or may not have secret Pinterest board dedicated to her make-up looks (I'm admitting to nothing).
But lately, it feels like all the buzz has been about her two younger half-sisters, Kendall and Kylie (kringe).
Kendall, the older one, is the one that immeadiately catches the eye - she's a tall, stunning model now making serious headway on the couture catwalks, and Kylie is the shorter, less striking sister who seems to get forgotten about.
However, Kylie has lately found a sort of grungy style that's the complete opposite from the known Kardashian fashion voacbularly, and I'll admit I've started to notice it.
Lately, she's caught a few headlines because of the change in her lips. Overnight, she seems to have developed a beestung pout that has some people pointing in injectables.
Well hello my lovelies!
If you read my August Glossybox review post, you'll know I was pretty annoyed when I found out my box was missing a product! I know these things happen, but when I tried to reach Glossybox customer service, it was a total clustershambles and left me feeling actively annoyed, where I wasn't that bothered before.
Emails to the customer service address went unanswered. The telephone number constantly rediverted to a voicemail that was too full to accept new messages. The only response I could get was by angrily tweeting them, and even then they just redirected me to the customer service email.
In this day and age of social media, companies are made and broken on their reputations and their service, so it was very annoying to find that a supposedly savvy service like Glossybox were so bad on this front. I'm not a big blogger, and I felt that if I was, perhaps they wouldn't have been too busy to return my calls, when they appear so tapped in to the power of the web to build their business.
As I write this, I can already see yellow leaves blowing past my window, which can only mean one thing. The new season is coming!
Part of me is really sad about this, as another summer seems to have disappeared in the blink of an eye. But another part of me is looking forward to the change of seasons. Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. I love scarves, hot chocolates, misty walks and golden afternoons. And I really love autumn style.
Today's post is going to be a review of the Tresemme Keratin Smooth range - the shampoo, conditioner and the 7 Day Treatment, which I've started to use.
Because what you use to wash your hair is so dependent on your hair type, I'll state that mine is fine (but with lots of it) and very dry and damaged. I bleached it blonde for quite a few years, and I use heated styling tools most days. As a result, my hair is not very shiny and can easily look a bit parched.
I believe that your hair gets immune to the active ingredients in shampoos and conditioners over time, so I always change the brand I use after I finish a bottle, but I generally rotate between three that I like - Tigi's Bed Head range, Herbal Essences, and John Frieda Brilliant Brunette range. So this Tresemme thing is a completely new experience for me.
Stop press!
After several what I would call ‘dodgy’ guest collections (Dame Edna? Marge Simpson?) Mac have just announced a new autumn collaboration I’m hugely excited about.
Just in time for Halloween, they will be launching a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed set of makeup.
Being a massive RH fangirl, this announcement is music to my ears! The classic misfit rock and roll musical has always been a favourite of mine.
What can you hope for in three years? Wealth, happiness, love? Adding to your dreams every day? It's a significant slice of time, but it seems to go by in a heartbeat.
Three years ago today, I was about to become a Mrs.
I had practised my vows. I had nervously tried on my dress. I had obsessed over table plans and music choices. But I still don't think the significance of the choice I was making had hit me.
Sometimes, a product comes along that ticks all the boxes. And its even better if this product happens to be affordable, so I'm overjoyed with MUA's Undress Your Skin shimmer highlighter.
I've passed this over many times without picking one up, but lately I've been feeling the need to get my glow on.
It's such a flattering skin finish, so I'm always seeking out products that will bring light to the face and give my skin a youth boost. I started looking for a drugstore alternative to Mac's Mineralise SkinFinish in 'Soft and Gentle' and came across this little marvel.
