With all the extremes of temperature and swaddled layers winter brings, my skin has been incredibly dry and itchy over the past few weeks.
Add that to my reluctance to stand bare-ass nekkid in a cold bathroom waiting for body lotion to sink in, and it’s a recipe for neglect.
So I love the idea of a product that is both quick and easy to use, and gives me silky limbs in zero time.
I’ve favoured dry oil sprays for a while for that very reason – squirt over damp skin, two seconds to air dry and the end result is moisturised, sheeny legs. What’s not to love?
Avon is pretty renowned for its dry oil sprays, and they are generally my choice. But because I’m overly bothered by packaging, I don’t like the cheap looking white bottles they come in and always try and hide them away in the cabinet.
So when I was selecting some No7 skincare to try last month, and I saw their offering in the way of oil sprays, I decided to give it a go.
This is No7 Pampering Dry Oil Body Spray, to give it its proper title. It comes in a simple, elegant clear spray bottle with a pink metallic lid. I much prefer this style to the Avon ones, and I like the way it looks on my shelf with all my other No7 products.
It contains Almond Oil, which is super-softening and nourishing Vitamin E, so it really smooths and hydrates your skin.
I must say the effect of this is incredible – it feels very pampering and luxurious. It also absorbs instantly, so its perfect for when you hop out of the shower in the morning without much time to spare.
It definitely has a long lasting effect, because I noticed how silky my bare legs felt the following day – a great antidote to flaky, dried-out winter skin.
If you hear the word ‘oil’ and picture something greasy and hard to absorb, don’t! This is very lightweight and doesn’t leave any residue, so you can dress straight away.
The only thing I dislike about this slightly is the scent. Its scented with vanilla and white florals – which sounds right up my street. And I like the idea of it providing a subtle scent, because who doesn’t want to moisturise and smell good in one fell swoop?
But in reality, the scent of it is somehow quite ‘old lady-ish’. Thankfully its not so strong it will overpower your perfume or anything, so it doesn’t put me off too much, I’d just much prefer something that smells a bit more modern, somehow.
This spray ticks so many boxes though – feels pampering, has a long-lasting and very nourishing effect, absorbs instantly and is easy to use with nice packaging – that a little bit of a granny scent is not going to put me off!
I’ve been alternating this with a body butter when I have a bath, just for a bit of variety, but this is a genius solution to moisturising when you’re short of time and patience to stand around rubbing a cream in.
If you’re looking for a treat to perk you up on a cold morning, I highly recommend this.
Have you tried a dry oil spray or do you still prefer a body butter? Let me know.

My skin gets really dry in winter so I should probably try oils. This one sounds good. Might use my Boots vouchers on it. :) x

They're a little bit magic, although I still fall back on my Body Shop Body Butters a lot. Yep, get your No7 vouchers on and give it a try, its a nice treat xx
DeleteI really like this body oil, I think it's a great drugstore option. I would, however, point you in the direction of Lanolips' Body Oil (available in Boots too) if you want something that's going to completely transform your skin - it's really incredible! xx
