Hi dolls
Back with Part Deux of my May Haul posting, and this time it’s the clothing (plus a few random items I’m terming ‘accessories’).
Usually I order a lot online but this month I made a trip to the high street in my quest for loose, floaty summer casuals and flat sandals that will do double duty as maternity wear.
I’m now 6 months pregnant and have still managed to get away without buying any specific maternity wear.
It just seems like such a waste of money buying stuff that will have a short shelf life. And most maternity wear, even from Topshop and places, is really not appealing – I’ve been shocked at how frumpy it all is.
Instead, I’ve been hunting down loose and comfortable cotton basics that can accommodate my bump now and still be worn afterwards. I may have to give in at some point but at the moment, its working okay.

Hi dolls
Another month, another round of purchases that have somehow found their way into my life. This month was a very mixed bag.
I bought some travel beauty solutions for going away on holiday, and some summer clothing purchases now that the sun has made a tentative appearance.
I’ve decided to split the post in two and show clothes and accessories in one, and the beauty stuff in another to avoid making it all too long!
So here are the beauty purchases I’ve been loving this month…

Hi Dolls
Can’t believe May is almost finished! Where is this year going?
I’m quite busy at work at the moment, especially now I’m aware my days are numbered before going on maternity leave at the end of August, and I’ve been given a few large scale projects to complete before then, including launching a new campaign and doing a complete rebrand of a service area.
No rest for the wicked! I’ve been fitting in lots of fun things as well though.
I’m feeling like its important to make the most of how easy it is to do stuff without a baby in tow, and before I get too large and uncomfortable to do lots.
Here’s what’s been happening in my little world lately…

Hello All
Here we are at week 26, can you believe it? It still doesn’t seem five minutes ago since that little blue line on my test, or the wonder of having my first scan. Now I’m 6 months pregnant!
May has been quite a busy month, and I’m definitely feeling the need to slow down this week. I’m starting to feel this odd kind of cumulative tiredness.
I’m sleeping okay at night, and going to bed by 10pm at the latest, but it still seems as if I have an energy deficit at the end of the week.
This Bank Holiday weekend, I went down to London for my sister in law’s hen do.
As you might be aware, the little man is actually due the same week as the wedding, so no one is sure how that’s going to work. So I wanted to make sure we were present and correct for the hen do at least!
Affordable, trend-led makeup has been taking off lately. Who doesn’t enjoy a quality product at a price that doesn’t make you wince?
And if you are a big fangirl of brands such as Makeup Revolution, Sleek, Collection and MUA, you’ll probably be delighted to hear that from this summer, there will be a new horse in the race, and that is Kiss Cosmetics.
Today I’m looking at one of their soon to be launched products, the SheerStick.

With holiday season well and truly upon us, I'm starting a new series of posts about useful travel beauty solutions.
As a true beauty junkie, I like to make sure I have everything with me I need when I go away, but I also like to streamline my packing (heavy bags are not the one unless you have assistants to wheel them around for you!).
Lately I've found some very lightweight travel solutions that deliver serious results, the first of which that I'm reviewing today - the VioLife SlimSonic Toothbrush.
Would you love a toothbrush that could improve your teeth’s whiteness, and also look good doing it?
Caring properly for your teeth is an obvious beauty basic, and so I’m into finding new brushes, pastes and whitening products. If you’re of the opinion that your toothbrush shouldn’t have to look boring, you’ll also like this one.
Coming back down to earth with a bump after a wonderful week in Italy, on our ‘babymoon’ holiday.
Returning to grey skies and drizzle after a week of sunshine, fine dining and stunning scenery was a bit of a shock to the system, but I’m really glad that we managed to fit in our final holiday as a couple before I get too big to travel long-distances.
The place was so stunning and scenic, I thought I would share some of our snaps, so if you are thinking of visiting Venice, Verona or Lake Garda this summer, its a little taste of what to expect.
Here’s what we got up to…
No sooner had I landed back from my babymoon holiday than May’s Glossybox landed on the mat. It definitely helped to get rid of my post-vacation blues!
If you’ve never seen these, Glossybox is a subscription service. You pay £12 every month in exchange for a beautifully wrapped selection of beauty treats coming to your door.
The box is a great surprise every month, a brilliant way to discover new favourites (and stock up on minis for going away).
Plus, its just nice to get something through the post that isn’t a bill! Products are usually ‘deluxe sample’ size, with regular full-size treats thrown in. And the value of the box far exceeds what you pay.
What was inside the box this month?
The theme of this month’s offering was ‘Summer’s Calling’ – all those products you need to get prepped for warmer weather.
Hello All
My neglect of my weekly pregnancy updates is definitely getting worse!
It’s a combination of a busy few weeks and not too much changing on a weekly basis – everything seems to be quite settled with us at the moment. Definitely the calm before the storm…
First of all, I’ve been away from home a lot in the past month. Seb and I went on our ‘babymoon’ holiday to Italy, which was amazing. I’m going to do a separate post on everything we got up to on our break, but I’ll say a bit here about the experience of travelling abroad while pregnant!
Way back when we booked the holiday, I couldn’t really imagine feeling so physically different, especially since I’d had such an ‘easy’ first trimester, with nothing changing bar a bit of tiredness in the evenings.
But now I can definitely see why they limit you to being 28 weeks at the latest to fly. I was 23/24 weeks while holidaying, and there’s no way I’d have wanted to go much later.
Words can’t describe how excited I am to be writing a post
for seriouslyshallow.co.uk! I deliberated for a little while over my topic and
then it hit me, do a skincare routine!
For many years now I have suffered with really bad dry skin
on my cheeks, forehead and around my mouth, but my nose and chin area is where
I suffer with oiliness and spots. I have
never understand how one part of your face can be so different to another and
up until last year, how to keep it all under control.
Been very naughty lately and keep skipping or combining these so-called ‘weekly’ updates!
So here we are at week 22, over the halfway mark, which seems incredible. Its been a very up-and-down week, full of hysterical laughter and a few tears.
A lot of this is down to my haywire emotions, which are all over the place at the moment. Even though I know its just hormones, dealing with the reality of all these highs and lows has been quite tiring.
I just haven’t been feeling myself – physically, mentally or emotionally, and seeing as its on all front, I’m finding it a little overwhelming at odd moments.
First, there are the physical challenges.
I’m pretty shameless about ‘self-gifting’ (my logic is generally: “I work hard, I deserve it) and you know by now I can usually justify most of my beauty junkie desires! One thing I had wanted for quite a while was Urban Decay’s Naked on the Run kit.
And something in me must have snapped, because although I’ve been telling myself since it was released that I don’t ‘need’ it (note: when has that ever stopped me before?), I went ahead and ordered it anyway the other week.
I’m so glad I did. Not only is it a thing of sheer, unadulterated beauty, it’s also a great value and a very practical set to own.
If I have one makeup weakness, its definitely lashes. I love them beyond all reason. I honestly think I’d rather have a moustache than have no eyelashes, if such a Faustian pact had to be made.
As such, I’d call myself something of a false lash connoisseur.
I must have tried hundreds of brands, and as a result I definitely know what works and what doesn’t. I even went through a phase of wearing strip lashes Every. Single. Day (still would if I had a little more time in the mornings).
But my quest for the perfect, natural-but-full, Disney Princess style falsies was never really over – until I was introduced to the beauty of Esqido.
