It seems unreal that July is almost over already, and there’s just one month standing between me and motherhood!
Wow. In so many ways, I don’t think I’ll ever feel ready for what’s about to come, but in others I’m getting impatient.
I already feel so close to this little person, to think I’m four or five weeks away from laying eyes on him is incredibly exciting, daunting and brilliant. It’s like the world’s most meaningful blind date!
This month seemed to be a lot of routine un-fun stuff, like getting new tyres and the car serviced and MOT’d, and going on endless missions to buy nursery furniture, plus dentist appointments, midwives appointments, classes at the hospital…. Its been such a ‘grown up’ month. #
I have been trying to tick things off my Bump to Baby Bucket List as well, and dealing with feeling generally less active and more like a beached whale!

Another month gone already! Where is this year going?
Plenty of purchases this month, but a lot of them were items for my hospital bag. The baby could come anytime from next month, so I wanted to make sure I was ready, and at the start of the month I made a special trip into town to stock up on items for my stay in hospital – and of course to use afterwards. So you’ll see a lot of travel bags and other items!
There’s something about a dressing area that’s a magical space. Its where we transform ourselves, spend some ‘me-time’ and where all the hair and make-up magic happens.
I’m fascinated with other people’s make-up set ups and storage, and can literally spend hours down the rabbit hole on Pinterest or YouTube looking at what other people use to store their collections. It brings together perfectly two obsessions of mine – organisation and beauty products.
I was on a make-up group recently where we were all swapping pictures of our make-up desks, so I thought I’d do a post about mine.
Everyone does it differently, and everyone’s collection differs vastly in size.
I probably have what my husband (and some more rational people) would class as too much make-up, but it actually seems nothing compared to some of the elaborate set-ups I’ve seen other people share, with multiple drawers crammed full of goodies.
Whether mine will expand to that point is anyone’s guess, but I doubt it.
34 weeks has come around frighteningly quickly, I’m now only three weeks away from full term! Eeek!
The nerves and the discomfort have both started to kick in this week, and suddenly it all feels very imminent.
At the moment I’m just in an almost constant state of physical discomfort. Sitting down for too long hurts. Standing up for too long hurts. Lying down for too long hurts – you literally can’t win!
Its making sleeping very difficult indeed. Not only is it near impossible to get off to sleep in a comfortable position at night with melon sized bump attached to your front, but staying asleep is also impossible as everything becomes uncomfortable very quickly.
Like most beauty addicts, I’m a massive fan of Charlotte Tilbury makeup.
The beautiful formulations, the gorgeous packaging – and the lady herself, who I would die to have my makeup done by!
But despite being a big fan, and lingering over her counter every time I paid a visit to Selfridges, I didn’t actually own much from the range at all.
As part of my Bump to Baby Bucket list, I’d resolved to treat myself to some real wish-list products before the baby comes, while I still have a disposable income, so I decided to pick up a couple of the lipstick shades, which we’ll look at here.
So as you may have seen, my lovely husband Sebastian treated me to the very gorgeous Rebecca Minkoff ‘Mini Mac’ bag for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, and in celebration of that, I’ve been inspired to do an updated ‘What’s In My Bag?’ post.
I’ve been obsessed with reading these posts for years, they never get old for me – I guess I’m just hopelessly nosy like that!
I wanted this bag for quite a while, and it didn’t disappoint.
The ‘Mini Mac’ is definitely a smaller bag, but with careful planning you can fit enough in to make it work for daytime.
There’s something about teeny-tiny deodorants and bottles of shampoo that really gets us going, and I think a holiday highlight for many girls is popping into the drugstore to get their travel minis sorted – then it really feels like the fun can begin!
When we booked our ‘babymoon’ to Italy waaay back in May, I started to comb through my own collection to see what was running out and what needed replacing.
Being a product junkie, I find it impossible to cut down on the amount of stuff I need, so I have to try other ways to cut down space wise!
So when I saw this Gillette Venus Snap razor, it seemed like the answer to save space on awkwardly shaped razors.
Hello my lovelies
Another two weeks have flown by, and I’m now at 32 weeks pregnant – the baby is the size of a pineapple now apparently, and I hope he stops there!
Everything is feeling very real now. I decided that I finally felt ready to get the nursery sorted out (too early felt like tempting fate a bit), so we’ve set up all his furniture now.
Looking at the cot makes me feel so overwhelmed with excitement and love – I can’t believe there will be a little person occupying it in just a matter of weeks. The room is coming together and looks really smart. I’ll do a post on it when its all sorted out and finished, perhaps after he comes.
Physically, I’ve been feeling a lot more uncomfortable due to the humidity at the moment. No matter whether I’m sitting down or standing up, nothing is very comfortable for long, and going to sleep at night is quite hard. Luckily, I am generally sleeping through the night when I get to sleep. I’m staying up later at night which is nice as it feels like there’s more of an evening, but I’m also waking up fairly early, which I like.
On a couple of nights this week, I was woken up by strange abdominal pains and the baby moving around lots. The first time I actually worried it was the beginnings of labour, as I’m not 100% sure what that feels like.

Hi Beauties
Even though I constantly have a rolling wishlist of beauty items in my head at all times, I don’t always post about it.
But this month it seemed like a good idea to share what I’ve been lusting after! Usually, my wish lists are a mix of clothes and make-up, but due to now being the size of a house and nothing fitting me, I’ve given up even looking at clothes at the moment, and seem to be just concentrating on what I’d like to add to my beauty collection:
It occured to me the other day that I haven't posted a baby haul for ages, despite the fact we've been buying clothes and toys left, right and centre for the little man.
In fact, he's now got so much stuff waiting that I've had to tell people not to buy him anything 0-3 months in size, as I genuinely don't think he'll be able to wear it all!
We've been lucky enough to have lots of nearly new stuff that belonged to our nephew Jude, and fortunately enough my sister-in-law's taste is pretty similar to ours.
But of course, we've also been getting excited and buying him stuff, as well as other people giving us presents. He's done extremely well and he hasn't even arrived yet!
I don't want to show endless pictures of identical baby grows, and he has so much clothing wise, I decided to just do an 'edited highlights' haul of my favourite pieces so far...
The glamour of the 50's pin up girl has created an iconic, timeless look that never dates. It's irreverant, deeply glamourous, and sensual - with a giggle in its voice and a wiggle in it's walk.
It also celebrates femininity as a construct - waist-whittlers, make-up, hairstyles. The semiotics and signifiers of 'woman', which makes it lots of fun to play around with.
Perhaps that's why so many of us are still so interested in vintage pin-up girl looks and how to get them?
