Have you heard about Glo & Ray? They're a hot new British cosmetic brand focused on bright colour, individual looks and professional beauty that will set hearts a-flutter for lovers of brands such as Illamasqua and Nars.
I'd seen a lot of buzz about them online, so I was delighted to get my hands on some of their most sought-after products to review - the Nebulae foundation, La Amo Creamy Matte lipstick and Wonderland gloss.
First impressions are great. All the products come in sleek black packaging that will look at home in any serious collection. But did they perform?
Glo & Ray Nebulae Fluid Foundation
£23.00
Everyone and their mother is after that one foundation that looks natural, covers well, gives a perfected appearance and a luminous glow and just generally makes you look like you've had a week at an alpine spa. Well, Nebulae really delivers on that front.
Using blue crystal technology to brighten skin, it glides on with a serum-like feel - great if you dislike the feeling of heavy formulas on your skin.
The finish is dewy, luminous and healthy, with a medium coverage. If you like formulations such as Nars Sheer Glow, Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless and Bourjois Healthy Mix, this is very much in that arena.
It delivers a really subtle, refined glow to skin without being shimmery, and makes you look well-rested and full of life.
It's also very hydrating and would suit people with normal to dry skins. Once on, it settles beautifully. Its not the longest lasting foundation I've ever tried, but with a primer it will easily cover you for a day at work.
It gives skin a beautiful appearance, perfected but still natural. Gorgeous! At £23.00, this will find quite a few fans, especially among those who like their skin to look polished but not caked in product.
I had the shade 'P03' which is a good match for my NW20 skintone.
La Amo Creamy Matte Lipstick in Muse
£12.00
These gorgeous lipsticks are available in eleven shades from neutral to bold. I love the feel of them on the lips, which is lightweight and moisturising. The finish is more of a demi-matte, creamy effect than a traditional matte, which I think is much more flattering a finish.
They're enriched with Light Colour Fitness Complex, which really moisturises the lips. There's also a clear balm in the range, but I don't think you need it as well, as the hydration is great on its own.
The shade I tried was the gorgeous 'Muse' - a warm, peachy dusky pink perfect for a daytime look or for pairing with a dramatic eye.
For me, its one of those 'throw on and go' colours that match most situations and outfits, so its likely to become a handbag staple - something I keep in there that I know I can rely on to freshen up my look.
Wonderland Hydrating Gloss in Flamingo Dance
£10.00
I absolutely loved this stunning gloss which has become a real winner for me. First up, the colour?!!?
Amazing. A peachy pink shot through with gold and iridescent sparkles, it gives a dazzling finish. I love glosses that contain a hit of sparkle, because they make your pout look incredible.
This one is not too distractingly glittery though, and adds just the right amont of shine. I love to pop a little just in the centre of my lips to make them look really full.
These glosses contain Micro Liquid Particles that refract the light and really light up your lips. They also have a Dewy Shine Oil System to make lips look smoother and fuller.
I loved the light, non-sticky feel of this gloss on my mouth, and its hydrating too, especially when popped over the top of the La Amo lipstick.
Layering La Amo Creamy Matte lipstick in 'Muse' with Wonderland Gloss in 'Flamingo Dance' |
Its the colour of this that makes it a massive winner for me, as its a great nude with a little bit of amped up glamour. Just gorgeous.
The Wonderland Gloss is a brilliant dupe for the Chanel Glossimer formulations as well.
Verdict
A gorgeous new line of make-up that adds something special. True to their name, they really are all about glow and luminosity, so if that's your thing, you will love them.
The formulations feel luxurious and all very lightweight - perfect for those that hate to feel caked in make-up but still want formulas that deliver great results. I'll definitely be back for more!
