MUR Fortune Favours The Brave Palette | Review

Sunday, 20 March 2016

So, I love a bit of Makeup Revolution as we all know and I also love a bit of BritishBeautyBlogger, aka Jane Cunningham, and when I saw they'd teamed up to create a new palette of covetable shadows I knew we'd be on to a winner.

MUR produce some of the finest eyeshadows I've tried, drugstore or high end, but the prices are so friendly. For £9.99 you get a collection of the most beautiful 30 eyeshadows.

From mattes to pearls to baked through swirls, this thing is stunning.

The shade range is masterful too- somehow it's everything you want but still not predictable, which really shows it's been created by someone who lives and breathes beauty products.

From nudes and Rose golds to deep navy and plums, I feel like I'll have a use for every shade here, but also none of it feels predictable.

So many brands are releasing endless dupes of the Urban Decay Naked series at the moment, and I love a well-executed nude as much as anyone but it's getting a little samey, no?

This feels like it moves the conversation on without chucking in random shades for the sake of it. I like that.

I love that bloggers are become influencers now, because I feel like Jane will get so much feedback from her followers and really be able to understand it in a way that brands sometimes can't.

The palette comes in a striking gold metallic finish which marks it out from the others by MUR but the blendability, pigmentation and staying power are the same great quality I now expect from them.

I especially love the marbled shades that make the palette pop so well and set it apart.

There's a large, clear mirror and a double ended brush applicator. Unfortunately, it's largely useless, although one step up from a foam tip. Honestly I can't see anyone who knows what they're doing using it so it's a bit of a waste, but it would do in an emergency.

The brush is a bit of a let down and I am a little surprised that a blogger would think it would go down well.

But you know what? It feels like you can't expect wonders - even the brushes in high end palettes are usually pants. And at this price, you're not going to care much when you get 30 gorgeous, high performing eyeshadows for a tenner.

There are some unique shades that would make a stunning coloured smokey eye, from khakis and metallic browns to navy blue. Bliss!

Here's how they swatch up:

Glimmer, Buffer, Peachy, Hope, Fortune, Skylight, Transformer, Midnight Rainbow (and with flash)

Ice Cloud, Golden Coins, Cashmere, Tip Top, Green Machine, Smoothie (and with flash)

Caffeine Fix, Latte, Pink Diamond, Creme, Drama Queen, Lonely Planet, Blacqua (and with flash)

Soft, New World, Favour, Sunset Hour, Super Gold, Winning, Brave, The Revolution (and with flash).

My personal favourites are New World and Cashmere just because they are so unique but so wearable too.

This palette is a brilliant, exciting edition to the MUR palette stable and a great effort from Jane.

I really hope the brand continues to collaborate with her and other bloggers and to keep releasing innovative products that perform well at good prices. It always feels like such a find when they release sometime and I can never resist trying it.

I like that you don't have to think to hard about whether to buy from them as the prices are so good and yet mostly the things I've tried from them have been amazing quality, some becoming instant staples in my go to makeup and easily shining as bright as the Mac and Nars in my collection.

Grab this palette while you can, because you won't regret having this selection of gorgeous, understatedly glamorous shades at your fingertips.
