Guess who's back? It's the #30daymakeupchallenge!! I must confess I almost fell at the first hurdle.
Day 4 - crazy liner - fell on my son's christening, and however much I want to change up my usual makeup look, this was just a little too much for the occaision! We also had so much to do with hosting the party and things that I just didn't have time for makeup.
Then Seb had the following week off work, so we wanted to hang out and do family stuff and we were working on our garden and things. So I just got out of the groove with doing the challenge!
I'm not going to let it put me off though, so here is (belated) day four!
How low do you go when it comes to makeup?
Some people love their luxury brands, while others are all about getting a bargain. For me, I like quality products that perform well, regardless of the price point. I get just as excited at either end of the spectrum when I find something I love.
But despite that, I suppose there was a part of me that thought there had to be a limit. After all, if something is literally cheaper than a bag of chips, can it really be any good?
Yet I kept hearing buzz about a brand called Makeup Gallery. And everything in the range is just £1. Really? REALLY really? I had to find out if lived up to the hype. After all, at those prices, I wouldn’t be crying if something didn’t work out.
From a purse-friendly instant line eraser to fresh nude lips and 3d lashes, it's all inside this post...
Welcome to Day 2 of my 30 Day Makeup Challenge! Today's theme is bold lips, so I got the chance to play with some of my favourite lipsticks.
I decided to go for something deep, dark and moody, so the star product today is Makeup Revolution Rose Gold lipstick in 'Private Members Club', a moody damson shade.
A few years ago this look would have scared me but I have grown to love a dark lip.
Calling all beauty addicts! Today I'm beginning a new 30 day Makeup Challenge. I'll be doing a different look each day for the 30 days and posting the results to Twitter, Instagram and right here on the blog.
You can join in the fun as well, take a look...
Every once in a while as a blogger, you get burnt out.
Your creative juices run low, you feel uninspired and it all begins to seem like a bit of of a chore. I think that’s true of any creative process or anything that you do for love in general.
So what's the antidote?
For me, it's discovering other bloggers and vloggers that get me excited again, that make me realise the possibilities and get my brain running at a hundred miles an hour.
Inspiration like that is precious beyond measure, so I like to celebrate and share who and what's really making me want to try harder now.
Here are the ladies rocking my world right now:
Just before having Theo I got my hair cut into a lob, which was the biggest change I'd made to my hair in years. I really liked the style but I've let it grow since so it's just below my shoulders now.
This length is easy to style and easy to deal with. As I'm not very creative or very patient when it comes to styling, this suits me fine!
There are some products Ive found that give me the finish I want and work well together, so I'm going to share those here- and one new thing I tried that turned out to be just awful as well!
So, outfit posts seem to be like buses for me- I don't do one for ages, and then several come at once!
I guess lately I've been beginning to rediscover my love of nice clothes and narrow down what my style really is now.
Becoming a mummy has made me re-evaluate what I like to wear, if only in terms of combining some attempt at style with practicality- oh I used to hate that word but its necessary now!
I've realised I like simple, clean shapes, luxe details and an uptown-meets-rock sort of styling that gives a bit if edge, but in a refined way.
Of course, that's not always what the end result is, especially when I'm just taking Theo to the park, but it's good to have something to aim for!
If you’ve just got engaged, congratulations are in order!
Planning a wedding is notoriously stressful, but it’s also bound to be one of the most exciting times of your life. Time management and organisation are essential for effective wedding planning.
If you’re thinking of setting the ball rolling, here are five things to sort now!
Do you ever wonder if those out-there beauty hacks really work?
You know the ones; they turn up in your Insta feed or you see videos about them. Most are more trouble than they’re worth, but just occaisionally you find one that is pure genius.
For a while now, I’ve kept seeing U.S beauty gurus raving about using Monistat as a primer.
Monistat is a clear gel used to stop chafing, but MUAs and insiders say the ingredients are virtually identical to Smashbox Photo Finish and other pricey, silicone-based primers.
I was intruigued enough to try and get my hands on some, but I quickly found that Monistat is not sold in the UK and where you can get it, places like Amazon and eBay, its retailing at around 14 per tube. So you really might as well get a primer!
However, a little research and I found out the Brit equivalent goes by the name Lanacane gel, and can be had in any pharmacy for a fiver. At that price, Im prepared to roll the dice!
Heres the verdict.
Don't you love those easy breezy pieces that just slot into your life and your wardrobe so seamlessly?
When I laid eyes on this long-sleeved Breton stripe dress, I knew it would be one of those pieces for me.
You can style it up for a myriad of different occasions, from a work meeting to a lazy Sunday brunch and it just works.
