Letters from Lake Garda | Day Four OOTD

Saturday, 6 May 2017

I'm a day behind with my daily holiday outfit posts, mainly because last night I spent hanging out in the garden with my husband once Theo had gone to bed, drinking some rather good Italian red!

Yesterday, we hired bikes to ride around the lake to Sirmione, an absolutely stunning little village that we came to last time we were in Garda. It has a beautiful castellato as you walk into the city.

The bike ride has to be the most beautiful one I've ever taken, whizzing around the shore with the mountains in the background and the sun shining down. It was such a nice thing to do as a family. We had a front-mounted bike seat for Theo, so he felt like he was steering the bike himself!

At Sirmione, things are definitely geared for the wealthy crowd who moor their boats up. The gelaterias are the most amazing I've seen in Italy, and they should be - a small cup of ice-cream and a large cone cost us 12.50! However, it was totally worth it as the gelato was out of this world.

A special moment for me was recreating a picture we took when we came on our babymoon and I was pregnant. I'm standing there, really proud of my massive bump! We took the same picture in the same spot, this time with me holding my little boy. I promised at the time we'd bring him back there to enjoy Garda. A special moment.

Day Four

Because we were spending the day cycling, I needed to choose something comfortable and fairly pratical.

Embroidered kaftan blouse | East
Navy chino shorts | Boden
Nude jelly pumps | Vivienne Westwood
'Le Pliage' rucksack | Longchamp
'Anoushka' sunglasses | Tom Ford
Fedora sunhat | TK Maxx

This loose, floaty blouse was perfect for a hot and sunny day cycling. It's so easy to wear and such a summery piece. I wanted my shoulders covered up because you can burn so easily, but it was also nice and airy. The shorts were easy to move in and practical, and then I paired them with my jelly flats again and took my rucksack to be hands-free.

We had a brilliant day making some lovely memories, although my legs are definitely aching today!

  1. Lake Garda looks so beautiful! And I live your outfit, I've never owned any chino shorts because anything hat might feel restrictive on my tummy during a bad day since doesn't get in haha

  2. Lovely outfit and I also adore the fact that you took your little boy back to that same spot. I sense you may have discovered a family tradition.

And oh my goodness, that ice cream is huge. I'll take three, please!
The blouse you're wearing is lovely. I like the embroidery a lot.
