OOTD Maternity | One Final Fuschia Fling

Friday, 13 July 2018

So, we’ve come pretty much to the end of the road when it comes to maternity fashion, because my little one is due any day now!

Despite knowing I was pregnant a lot earlier this time around, time still seems to have flown. I’ve been so busy with work and family life with our son Theodore, that I haven’t had much time to sit daydreaming about this new arrival - one of the many differences with a second baby to a first!

I’m definitely not so patient with this last little bit. I’m now on maternity leave from work, although I haven’t found it as much of a hard adjustment as last time around - having Theo automatically gives each day a natural rhythm and routine that I missed when stopping work before.

Since then, I’ve met up with friends I made at pregnancy pilates, finished off some chores around the nursery (baby grows seem to multiply when they all need washing and pressing…) and now I’m in this weird limbo wondering when our bundle will arrive!

Throughout this pregnancy, I’ve had much more fun with maternity fashion, and have enjoyed exploring the intersection between my personal style and the comfort you need to accommodate a growing bump.

I’ve also learnt that just because you become a mummy, you don’t need to entirely change your style - just make a few practical adjustments from time to time. It’s been lovely to share this on the blog.

Fuschia knot dress | Seraphine
Leopard print ankle boots | Dune
Le Pliage Neo Mini shopper | Longchamp
J12 Quartz Ceramic watch | Chanel
Blush leather bracelet | Paul Smith

This bright summer weather has me straying from my usual monochrome and striped favourites into more colourful territory, and I cannot rate this beautiful knot dress from Seraphine more highly. Not only is it a breath of fresh air and quite flattering on but it's super comfortable to wear. It’s also suitable to breastfeed in so I’m sure I’ll still be wearing it after my little girl arrives. It's made me realise how much I like purple, actually!

To bring a bit of edge, I like to pair this with a splash of leopard print - in this case my ankle boots, but I also have some rose-gold metallic and leopard trainers that I would pair this with for a trip to the park with Theodore and baby.

I’ve been wearing this Neo Mini bag non-stop since I got it for my birthday in June - it's super easy to sling on in a hurry and keeps my hands free for dealing with a toddler. I love that the styling is smart but the nylon fabric gives it a casual twist. I wear my backpack and tote from the Le Pliage range constantly, so I can see this is going to become another much-loved classic.

Finally, just a couple of pieces of wrist candy to go with it - a J12 adds a sporty vibe (and ensures that I actually know how late I’m running…) and I picked up this great leather bracelet in the Paul Smith Warehouse Sale I was very excited to go to recently!

By the time this post goes up, I may well be in labour or be back at home welcoming our new addition, so thank you all for coming with me on this second motherhood style journey. See you on the other side...
