BFF Mama Style | Vinyl Kingdom

If you read those lists of things you shouldn't wear after you turn 30, I'm pretty sure that vinyl trousers would be on there somewhere.

Call me a rebel, but I disagree. They might be tricky to style, but that doesn't mean it can't be done - and I like a challenge.

Vinyl trousers have popped up everywhere from the Yves Saint Laurent catwalk to the local high street.

And I for one think they look fabulous.

The secret to styling vinyl trousers (at any age I would say) is the combine them with something very opposite.

A crisp tailored shirt, a prim tweed blazer or an oversized sweater work a treat for anchoring the edginess of the piece and balancing it's subversive vibes.

Blush suede studded ankle boots | Topshop
‘Stella’ metallic snakeskin bag | Oxygen London
Talon earrings | Liars & Lovers @ Asos
Stacked bracelets | H&M, Paul Smith

I was very inspired by this outfit Millie Mackintosh wore when styling up the look. But it does go to show that a ‘civilian’ with generous thighs like me can also wear the trend.

One thing I absolutely can't bear is being cold. Back in the day, I used to go out in all manner of tiny ensembles and would never even dream of  taking a coat, but now it's completely out of the question to freeze!

So these statement vinyl trousers may be edgy but they're also quite warm (and if the baby sicks down them, they're wipe clean - winning. At. Life!)

Unexpected combinations are my favourite way to style things, so I love the contrast of the bold trousers with the soft, drapey knit in the gentle nude colour. I am a little obsessed with oversized rollnecks at the moment!

On my feet, I've gone for these beautiful blush suede ankle boots with tiny gold stud detailing - the colour breaks up the black and adds a softer feel. No freezing my toes off in strappy heels here!

Accessories wise, I opted for a pair of these fabulous talon style earrings - they are similar to the Shaun Leane pair Meghan Markle has rocked on royal duties before, which I loved.

On my wrists, I stacked up a couple of bracelets with gold tones in them to dress it all up a bit.

And my bag is this fabulous rose gold metallic number that adds a bit of punch to the neutral tones in the outfit. The chain detailing is so cool and really lifts the outfit.

And that's my party look done - what are you going out in this season?
