Okay, so I did say I was through with beauty boxes for a while, but I also said I was easily tempted and here we are!
While I have cancelled my regular sub to LookFantastic due to being thoroughly backed up with items I haven't used, the Sunday Times Style edit with Latest In Beauty was being so buzzed about on some of the beauty groups I'm in on Facebook that I couldn't ignore it.
You can pick your own items from a selection of products shortlisted for the Sunday Times Style Awards, and there were several things I really wanted to try.
This is only a one off, once a year box but apparently last year's sold out super quickly, and although I saw quite a few people saying the options weren't neatly as good this year, I'm happy with what I picked.
IGK No More Blow High Speed Air Dry Spray
Fun fact: I absolutely hate blow-drying my hair, so any product which makes it easier - or in this case, promises to elimate it entirely- is very welcome in my house! I haven't seen anything like this unique product before.
Using advance flash cooling technology and a blend of lightweight, invisible starches which absorb moisture, this promised to air dry your hair 46 per cent faster.
During the winter, I always use a drier, but as we're approaching the summer months I try to let my hair air dry more often then to avoid as much heat damage, and especially now I've just had balayage again and my hair is a little drier and processed.
I'm hoping that this could just be the secret weapon to avoid digging out my hairdryer as much! After all, when hair dries faster there is less breakage and frizz. IGK are a brand I've been curious about for a while, so this had to go into my selection.
Omorovizca Rejuvenating Night Cream
This much buzzed-about cult Hungarian skincare brand seems to be attracting positive attention, and I must admit that as I have recently had a few of their products in sample boxes, I wanted to add this to my collection.
Billed as a deep repair for parched skin, this cream uses natural extracts, minerals from Hungarian thermal waters, and a patented complex called ‘Hydro Mineral Transference’ that apparently maximises the rejuvenating potential of the ingredients.
I love a richer treatment at night, so I'm looking forward to trying this out.
Nars Climax Mascara
As a big fan of Nars, and an even bigger fan of pumped up lashes, this had to be one of my picks from the list.
This has one of those giant, fluffy, car-wash-roller brushes that I really love, because they tend to be great at giving dense, fluffy lashes with real impact.
It's a similar brush to my all time favourite, Too Faced Better Than Sex and I would say it gives the same finish. You get buildable volume, a light, flexible formula and as much lash drama as you could wish for.
Bristles loaded with whipped, midnight black pigment means this is a mascara designed for those seeking the ultimate lash lift, but it doesn't quite dethrone my all time favourite, although it's a pretty close run thing!
CND Solar Oil Nail and Cuticle Care Pen
I'm desperately trying to sort out my natural nails at the moment, so I couldn't resist adding this nail care product, which I have heard mentioned often over the years as a celebrity make up bag staple.
Infused with Jojoba and Vitamin E, this easy to use pen drives caring nutrients into the nail bed to give stronger, healthier growth.
I'm hoping it's going to help me turn my flaky, pitiful nail situation into long, strong beautiful natural nails.
Floral Street Sampler Set
Floral Street is a new perfume brand that I've been interested in for a little while. Their single bloom philosophy and bold packaging captured my interest, but with scent it's difficult - I'm very picky with what I like, and you don't want to order something so personal which just doesn't suit you.
So this is the perfect way for me to try out their fragrances, in a beautifully packaged mini scent wardrobe.
The scents are: London Poppy, Wonderland Peony (which I'm excited about as I love my Peony Blush candles), Neon Rose, Chypre Sublime, Ylang Ylang Espresso (which I have tried a sample of before and really liked), Black Lotus, Wild Vanilla and Iris Goddess.
Honestly? They all sound gorgeous! Floral Street isn't too expensive, so I'm hoping one of these can be my new everyday scent.
Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution | Pillow Talk
This lipstick became an instant cult classic when it launched and I've never tried this shade so I couldn't resist selecting it as my final pick.
CT makeup is just stunning - I've never tried anything I didn't love from her range - and the formula of these lipsticks is gorgeous.
I'm not a huge fan of matte lipsticks in general but the Matte Revolution shades have changed my mind - they contain light-capturing spheres which make lips look plumper, so the effect is matte but not dry and flat. Plus, they wear really comfortably and never feel overly dusty.
The shade ‘Pillow Talk’ supposedly enhances the natural huge of your lips to give a sumptuous, pillow finish - the ‘your lips but better’ effect. This is such an elegant lipstick. I can add this mini to the ones I got in the Hot Lips collection, and now I've tried it I will definitely be buying the full size.
So, those were my picks from the awards shortlist, and I'm definitely glad I went for this box - have you tried any of these products?
