I’ve been slacking off a lot on the fashion front. Something about this never ending lockdown situation, and the miserable winter weather meant I got stuck in a groove of either keeping my running gear on all day or just wearing leggings and a baggy jumper.
Not for the first time in my life, I’d forgotten the fun of fashion and how dressing up and creating a persona can really cheer me up. So I’m back on the fashion bandwagon.
Of course we can’t do anything or go anywhere, but we can celebrate our shut in style.

I’m always really inspired by anything with a hint of 60’s mod. I like the clean, graphic shapes and the simple elegance of the pieces. And there’s something about a pinafore dress, ankle boots and a skinny roll neck that nods to that period in time.
I absolutely live in these thermal Heattech roll necks during the colder months and even now that the sunshine is starting to make more of an appearance, they’re ideal for layering under other pieces to ward off any chills.
Leather is definitely a style staple for me, so when I saw this smart dress I had to have it. I love the oversized square pockets and the gold button details. As a silhouette, the pinafore dress is quite girlish, but the black leather toughens it up and gives it an edge. It's this sense of contrasts that I really enjoy playing with in fashion.
The square toed shape of these patent blue ankle boots continued the look - the combination of blue, black and camel is something I really like as a palette. I have a huge selection of ‘fancy’ ankle boots because they let me pretend I’m a rockstar and not a tired mum of two!
Picking up on the shade of the boots, I chose this quilted bag with it's acrylic chain detail. I love the neat, boxy shape and the smaller size.
Finally, the finishing touches. A large watch adds a smart finishing touch, and I love the styling of this very classic round faced watch. I also popped on one of my favourite necklaces from the boutique House of Jupiter, who produce lovely pieces based around natural crystals.
This outfit is definitely something I would have worn to the office when that was a thing - but now I’m fully based from home I’ll just have to serve my looks up on Teams calls!
