Summer is well and truly here and one of my favourite brands, Beauty Pie, has some brand new offerings to celebrate the sunshine.
And whether we get to travel again, or we have to content ourselves with some backyard sunbathing instead, they have all the kit you need to grab that summer glow, plus some great new skincare items. Here’s what I decided to try from Beauty Pie’s new picks…
So after years and years spent rocking the pale and interesting look, I’ve started to get into a faux glow recently. Perhaps it’s being stuck in the UK for the past couple of summers, but all of a sudden I’ve been experimenting with fake tan.
Beauty Pie’s limited edition Awesome Bronze range is all about golden limbs. It includes the Sun Kissed Glow Self Tanning Drops, which I didn’t try because I’m all stocked up on self tanners right now, and the Casa Coco candle, alongside this rich body balm. This super nourishing formula has a texture that sits between a gel and a mousse. Infused with Coconut Oil and Milk, Shea Butter, Meadowfoam Oil and Glycerin, it’s supremely hydrating.
It doesn’t tan the skin, but it does leave a flattering soft shimmer to give that supermodel look, and is the perfect post-fake-tan hydrator. It’s scented with Tiare Flower and Vanilla for the most beautiful summertime fragrance as well, and I love the pot with it's copper lid, which will be perking up my bathroom this summer.
Made in France and fully vegan, this is the treat my summer skin needs, whether my tan comes from jetting away somewhere or out of a bottle.
Also in the summer collection, one of my favourite Beauty Pie products has had a high-summer makeover.
This product is like a combination balm and gloss in one. Deeply nourishing, you get a sheer kiss of colour with a shiny - but not sticky- finish. This shade is a beautiful beige nude shot through with fine golden shimmer particles, equally gorgeous on it's own or layered over lipstick.
Imported from Italy (take me back there!) there’s a combination of Collagen and antioxidant Cherry and Hibiscus Oils to moisturise and plump lips. I adore the texture and the sheer shade and I think this is the ideal swipe-on-and-go summer lip product. It will be a handbag essential for me for the rest of the summer months.
I don’t know how many times I’ve bemoaned my under-eye area on this blog, but I’m always looking for the latest wonder product to smooth, tighten and lift my bags and wrinkles, so I thought this new eye serum was well worth a try.
With the brand’s Triple Hyaluronic Acid Elixir for plumping, plus a firming complex to reduce lines and wrinkles, and what’s intriguingly called a ‘powerful pro-ceramide polysugar’, this is a light but effective anti-ager that I will be using in parallel with a Retinol at night.
There’s also added caffeine to tackle puffiness and dark circles, all in a light, easily absorbed format all the way from the skincare labs in Switzerland (even if I can’t go on my travels, my BP products have well-stamped passports!).
Some reviews on the site are calling this the ‘best eye serum ever’, so I’m really excited to see what it does for me. Clever products like these are why I adore Beauty Pie and happily pony up my membership fees!
I can’t tell you how.freaking.looooong I waited for this to launch. Beauty Pie cheekily showed it when the summer collection first went on sale weeks ago and said it was ‘coming very soon’, but in fact it was weeks and weeks, during which I tetchily held off placing my order while worrying that the other summer collection items I wanted would go out of stock in the meantime.
Thankfully that didn’t happen, and when I finally had this palette in my hands, I was very glad I waited for it.
Housed in a heavy feeling reflective copper case, you have four beautiful shades - ‘Buddha Bronze’, a chic matte bronzer, ‘Cool Beams’ - a pretty, champagne highlight, ‘Superjuju’, a rose toned blush and ‘Fever Peach’, a coral blush.
All the shades are so, so pretty and very wearable, have a really nice buildable colour payoff, a weightless finish and beautiful luminosity. The PowerPowder technology is designed like a wearable Instagram filter to optically smooth out imperfections - as a super fan of Beauty Pie’s One Powder Wonder, I knew this would be amazing!
All you need to add are lips, lashes and brows and you’re good to go.
Wondercolour Cream Eyeshadow Trio
The Wondercolour Cream shadow sticks have long been one of my repeat-buy items from Beauty Pie, as they offer creamy, blendable shades that stay put all day.
I absolutely adore how easy they are to use and the precise finish you can get with them - drawing on the shape you want, blending the edges and that’s basically it. I even use two of the shades as my daily, quick, failsafe contour.
So when I saw this new trio of mesmerising shades it was a no-brainer to add them to my basket. The sticks roll up, glide on and give a bold pop of colour. The shades here are Marmalaze, a fabulous burnt orange, WavyNavy, a peacock blue woven from dreams and perhaps my favourite, Rosentine, a stunning rose gold shimmer.
They’re all beyond beautiful, high-impact and blend like a dream, plus I love the uber chic metallised packaging which matches the shades inside. There’s no creasing or smudging and the colours - wow! Definitely a new must have.
OK, so this product isn’t strictly new to Beauty Pie, but it's new to me, having somehow passed under my radar. I tried it looking for an alternative to Trinny London BFF Cream and instantly fell in love - how on earth had I missed it!?! I actually think giving the title ‘primer’ is misleading.
Although it can happily work as a base under foundation, it’s also great on it's own and is pigmented enough to be more of a tinted moisturiser than a primer, in my opinion. This is my daily go to now, worn with a touch of concealer. And I’ve never had more compliments on my skin!
It’s opalescent, light-refracting magic is eight hours sleep in a bottle, and infused with Diamond Core Powder and Vitamin E it gives a stunning but natural glow with a HD finish.
It’s actually hard to explain how good this stuff is, but it’s joined plenty of other BP products as something I always repurchase and always have a back-up of, because I never want to be without it. It blurs, brightens and makes everything look better, becoming an absolute daily go to.
A blurring primer is a makeup bag staple for me. I’ve worked my through a lot of options in the past, and my two favourites so far for hiding fine lines and giving a well-rested appearance are from Figs and Rouge or Laura Mercier - so I’m always open to a slightly more purse-friendly alternative.
You pop this on over your moisturiser and it gives you a smoother, airbrushed finish so that your makeup blends well and sits better on the skin. It leaves a silky matte finish that’s really nice. I don’t think it's blurring powers are quite a match for the other primers I mentioned (or Trinny Miracle Blur, which I’m a big fan of) but it’s a good every day option that won’t break the bank.
Never underestimate how important brows are to your overall look. The right arches can literally take years off your face and completely change the look of your features, which is why finding the right products to groom and care for brows is so important.
This gel-serum does double duty, because not only does it hold your brows in place and keep them looking great, but it also contains a complex of Panthenol and Plackton Glass Flower to encourage re-growth for fuller, healthier looking arches. It conditions, revitalises and strengthens brows so it's a treatment as well as a brow mascara. What could be better?
So that’s my little haul of high summer goodies from Beauty Pie. Have you tried the brand yet?
Nice
