Welcome to Day 2 of my 30 Day Makeup Challenge! Today's theme is bold lips, so I got the chance to play with some of my favourite lipsticks.
I decided to go for something deep, dark and moody, so the star product today is Makeup Revolution Rose Gold lipstick in 'Private Members Club', a moody damson shade.
A few years ago this look would have scared me but I have grown to love a dark lip.
The key is to get the balance right with the eyes- you don't want them too dark and lined so they're competing for attention with your lip shade, but you also don't want your eyes to be completely pale and undefined- that's a look that works on the catwalk but can look a bit unfinished in real life.
What I used:
Chanel Lift Lumiere foundation
Mac Pro Longwear concealer
Makeup Revolution Radiant Lights powder | Breathe
Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade | Dark Brown
Nars Dual Intensity palette
Me Me Me Dew Pots | Hollow Haze
Tarte Lights Camera Lashes mascara
Makeup Revolution Rose Gold lipstick | Private Members Club
I aimed for a satin finish on the skin, using one of my favourite foundations coupled with an illuminating setting powder.
With the eyes I just lightly washed them with silver, blending into a darker metallic grey at the corners and then popped the inner corners with a silver-gold cream shadow to bring lots of light into the eye area.
A swipe of brow pomade and mascara and I was ready for that deep dark lipstick!
This look was very quick and easy to do, which surprised me. I think one of the longest parts of my daily makeup routine is trying to get my eyeliner right so it felt quite liberating not to be wearing any!
I thought it would make a massive difference to my mood and look but now I can see that it really doesn't make as much difference as I thought.
I will definitely be recreating the look again, probably in the autumn when berry lips always look killer.
Stay tuned for Day Four...
