Ways To Wear It: Christmas Jumper Day to Night with PrettyLittleThing

Thursday, 23 November 2017

And so it begins. The shops are beginning to crank up ‘Santa Baby…’, festive lattes have crept into all the coffee bars, and the floodgates have opened on seasonal tv adverts. Christmas is coming, and I couldn’t be more excited.

Over the last decade I’ve been slowly getting more and more Christmassy, and now that I have an excited 2-year old I think we have officially reached peak Christmas in the house! In the flurry of finding gifts, wrapping, baking mince pies and general chaos, suddenly you stop and think- what do I wear?

Christmas jumpers have become an absolute must do for stylish Brits who love a big dose of irony with their turkey, and I love a festive knit!

For the ultimate desk-to-dancefloor look, it’s all about how you style your jumper, for a party look that’s fun and never tries too hard.

PrettyLittleThing have an amazing collection of Christmas jumpers that are on trend and affordable with their usual dose of chic. Here’s how I’d style up two of my favourites:

Day to Night Christmas Party

Burgundy long ‘Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal’ jumper | PrettyLittleThing
Black vinyl trousers | Very
Grey suede ankle boots | M&S
Black mini leopard ‘Alexa’ | Mulberry

For my first look, I decided to offset the cute and cosy vibe of my jumper with a jolt of edgy vinyl, and I love the effect. This jumper is so warm and cosy, and I really like the oversized style which works well with a slim cut bottom half. The Home Alone films are one of my absolute favourites so I love the cheeky slogan. If you were feeling especially daring you could actually just pair it with black opaques, especially if you’re on the shorter side- I’m quite a tall girl, and it’s fairly long on me! The trousers are very of the moment, but they’re quite a style risk, so I feel like the cosy vibe of the jumper is perfect to offset them. To accessorise, I added in some grey suede ankle boots and my beloved Alexa satchel which has a cool patent leopard print to it. This outfit would be perfect for going straight out after work- just add a bit of glittery eyeliner and you’re good to go.

Festive Night Out

Cream ‘Ho Ho Ho’ reversible sequins panel jumper | Pretty Little Thing
Embroidered Aztec mini | Topshop
Black leather ankle boots | Dune
Bronze statement necklace | Zara
Burgundy ‘Mademoiselle’ bag | PopKorea

So my second look takes it up a notch for that big Christmas night out. Who says you can’t slay in your winter woolies? This cream knit has the perfect amount of slouch to it, so it pairs really well with a patterned mini. Just do the fashion half-tuck, as this shows your waist line and gives the look shape.

I added in my favourite v-cut heeled ankle boots, a bold statement necklace to compliment the glitter of the reversible sequin panel, and a burgundy quilted chain bag to smarten things up and add a hint of colour. Of course, you could pop on some tights if you don’t want frozen legs, or just get some tequila insulation going on.

Christmas knits can be really versatile, so think beyond pairing them with the standard skinny jeans and you can have a festively fashionable look.
