Forest & Shore Hallelujah Hair Oil | Review

Monday, 12 February 2018

If winter is harsh on our skin, it's just as harsh on our hair as well, and although we tend to be good at upping our skincare regimes to cope with the cold, sometimes our tresses get left out of the equation. Throw in some colour, a lot of heat styling, and you get dry, damaged, lifeless hair with plenty of frizz!

I’m such a big fan of oils in general - I use one as a cleanser, when I shave my legs, as a body moisturiser and as my facial skincare at night. And oil is great to give your locks an extra bit of love and TLC too. It can give a hit of nutrients and moisture that provide deep nourishment, a smooth finish, a heavenly shine and can help your hair to grow faster.

In the past, I’ve used other oils that turned out to be actually packed full of synthetic silicones and only a small percentage of actual oils, but Forest & Shore’s Hallelujah Hair Oil is a new 100% organic blend.

Coming in beautiful, elegant packaging, the oil smells divine in it's frosted glass bottle. It's a blend of seven natural oils and extracts, each with its own gift to give your hair.

There’s Sesame Seed Oil to start with. This provides essential fatty acids including Omegas 3,6, and 9 which enriches and hydrated hair follicles and encourages new growth.

There’s also Coconut Oil, with carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to build the strength of your hair and moisturise. I must say that I get frustrated trying to use solid coconut oil so I much prefer it being part of the blend here.

Then there’s Olive Oil, full of emollients like oleic and palmitic acid and squalene that makes hair super-soft. I have been know to do a raw egg and olive oil hair mask at home which is very messy but is absolutely magic on the hair!

There’s also Lemon Peel Oil to add deep shine, Rosemary to encourage growth and thickness, Lavender as an intensive conditioner which also prevents dryness and has antimicrobial properties, and Arnica Extract to strengthen and guard against split ends.

So, a pretty powerful mix of hair goodies and certainly one that smells and feels incredible to use. You can use the oil a couple of ways - either run a few drops through damp hair before drying, or on dry ends as a finishing touch, or if you need a deeper fix, pop it on dry hair and leave it to sink in overnight.

I love this overnight remedy approach, and it doesn’t make hair greasy - I just take a few drops, smooth it through the lengths (staying away from the roots) and twist my hair up into a high top knot before I go to sleep. In the morning, there’s smooth, glossy waves, which is gorgeous and saves me a lot of time!

They don’t expressly advise you to use this on your face, but as it's 100% natural I felt confident popping some on after my serum anyway! It felt silky and light and in the morning my complexion felt plumped up. So you could consider it your next multi-tasking wonder buy...
