Glossybox September 2018 | Review

Friday, 7 September 2018

So Glossybox is something I haven't done in a while, but when I heard that they were releasing a limited edition box with cult skincare brand Sunday Riley, and that box would be available first and at a discounted price, to subscribers, I signed back up immediately!

As a result, September’s box came winging its way over to me. I unsubscribed because it was getting repetitive and I hadn't been too impressed with the contents in a few boxes - would this one change my mind?

Daily Concepts Your Facial Mini Scrubber

This little tool is designed to provide a mini spa facial using a quick and easy mitt. It's made using soy and a natural cotton base layer to provide a rich lather when used with only water.

If you have sensitive skin itd perfect as there are no harsh chemicals, and had been tested to make sure it doesn't irritate or cause flare-ups.  It's also cruelty free, so your conscience can be as clean and sparkling as your face. It would be ideal to travel with as it's so light and compact.

Bang Beauty Eyebrow Cream

There’s nothing I love more than a beautiful brow with it's transformative powers to frame and lift the face and open the eyes.

Initially, I thought this mid-brown shade was too light for me to use, but it actually works okay - you should always a go a shade or so lighter when you’re brunette if you want to avoid the harsh, drawn-on look anyway. I prefer a slightly lighter shade for during the day, and I’ll go darker if I’m going out in the evening.

This has a nice velvety texture and comes with a mini angled brush as well. The pigment lasts well and it gives you great defined arches.

Karl Lagerfeld + ModelCo Lip Liner

A lip liner really is one of those products which can make you look a lot more polished, so I'm always interested in discovering new ones.

This nude dusky pink shade, ‘Rosewood’ is the ideal colour for me, and the kind of thing I would just top with lip balm for the day. It's a creamy formulation that glides on and helps to give you a lovely pout.

Grow Gorgeous Scalp Detox

This is a brand I've heard a lot of positive buzz about, so I'm excited to try one of their products for myself. Scalp detoxing is a new concept to me, but I am focusing on trying to get my hair in better condition by using regular masks, so it's a timely thing to have received.

The idea is that the pomegranate enzymes and castor oil beads this contains work to remove impurities that block the root growth of your locks. You use it once or twice a week, before washing, and it creates the optimum conditions for you to grow long, beautiful hair. Vegan friendly and cruelty-free, this is a lovely addition to any hair care routine.

Wet Ones Be Fresh Antibacterial Wipes

As a mum, I always carry a pack of wet wipes - they are a daily essential when you have sticky toddlers and babies in tow, or even if you’re just a clumsy, mess magnet adult, which I also am!

These ones are a cut above the wipes I usually buy, because they kill 99.9% of bacteria, so they're ideal for wiping down high chair trays and tables when you’re out and about. But being dermatologically tested and PH balanced, they're also gentle enough to use to freshen up or on toddler hands. A handbag essential.

BeautyPro Detoxifying Bubbling Mask with Activated Charcoal

You can never go wrong with a good face mask in my book, so this was a great addition to the box. It's my Sunday night ritual to grab a bath - the only half hour I properly get to myself all week- and I always do some speed pampering by chucking on a face mask and a hair treatment.

This mask uses activated charcoal for a deep clean, along with fruit extracts of lime, lemon, apple and orange to detox skin, refine your pores and reduce oiliness and blemishes.  The mask bubbles up to work it's magic with a micro massage that works deep into your pores. The perfect bath time treat.

This Glossybox has been pretty great - a good mix of products and all things I will be using! I'll give it another month or so to see if it's worth sticking with, especially as LookFantastic have never delivered me a bad box yet.

It's the Sunday Riley collab I'm really here for though! Glossybox seems to have gone more upmarket since I left and the brands are better, so I'm excited to see what’s next!
